Attention Students Interested in Field Biology
There is a REQUIRED parent meeting on Wednesday, January 30 at 7:00 p.m. in Room 129. If one of your parents does not attend, you will not be considered for participation in this year’s class. If there is any problem, contact Ms. Remack in Room 129.
Library Note
The 3rd floor library will be open for study halls, lunches and passes beginning on Thursday, January 24. Students should report to their assigned study hall or lunch until Thursday. Students are reminded to come to the 3rd floor entrance, be on time and have their current OPRFHS ID. If students need to use the library before Thursday, we are open before and after school. Both levels of the library open before school at 7:15 a.m. and are open after school until 3:45 p.m.
Little Theatre Auditions
Auditions for the play Medea written by Euripides and directed by Mrs. Bayer will be held in the Little Theatre this Thursday and Friday at 3:15 p.m. Whether you are an experienced actor or a first-timer we want you! If you have any questions see Mrs. Bayer in room 287.
Summer Field Marine Biology
Make sure you see Mrs. Bayer in room 287 as soon as possible if you are interested in the Florida Summer Field Marine Biology course. All application materials must be turned in by February 1. Take advantage of this amazing opportunity to study in Florida while earning high school credit!
Heritage Morp
The 12th annual Heritage Morp kicks off this Friday evening in the High School's Student Center. DJ Marvel of Jam Productions will spin the music plus high school rappers: JueJue, Dre and Mr. International will dazzle you with their skills. A current student ID is required along with $5 admission fee. Dance starts at 7:30 p.m. and doors close at 8:15 p.m. This is the last Morp of the school year so come on out, express your HERITAGE, and have some fun on that night. (M. Vance)

Orchesis Rehearsal for Gerard & Gina’s Dances…
We will be performing at the Barrington High School Dance Invitational on Saturday, Feb. 2. We have two mandatory rehearsals to brush these dances up! We will meet this Friday, January 25 in the Student Center from 3:15-3:45 p.m. and next Friday, Feb. 1 same place, same time. Be there ~ Mrs. Riner!

ACADEMIC ENRICHMENT/SCHOLARSHIPS/OPPORTUNITIES
Attention All Students
The State of Illinois permits satisfying the consumer education graduation requirement by passing a state prepared examination in consumerism. This exam will be offered Wednesday, January 30, 2008 at 3:15 in room 302.
The exam is limited to 50 students and only registered students will be permitted to take the exam. Registration is from January 22 until the end of the day on Tuesday, January 29th. See Mrs. Rice in the third floor library to register. Students must show a current OPRFHS student ID on the exam date. Consult page 25 in the 07-08 Academic Hand book for additional information.

Enter an essay contest that could win you a $6,000 scholarship? The Optimist Club of Oak Park is sponsoring an Essay Contest for high school students. The official subject of this year’s contest is "TODAY'S CHOICES SHAPE MY FUTURE." Please see Mrs. Asbury or Mrs. Martinek in the Counselor’s Office Room 207 for an application and the official entry form. And while you are visiting the Counselors' Office, be sure to check out the other essay contests that are available to you for a chance to win not only scholarships, but cash awards and prizes as well! ExcelEdge ACT 36 test prep classes begin Wednesday, January 23, Thursday, January 24, and Saturday, January 26. Check the rosters posted outside of Room 373 and Room 207 to determine your classroom location. Remember to bring pencils and your calculator to each class. (Ms. Hill)

Here's your chance to win up to $1,000! That's the top prize for the winning essay in the annual essay contest sponsored by Superior Medical Associates. $500, $300, and $200 prizes are also awarded for 2nd, 3rd and 4th place essays. This year's topic is "What do you consider a major health or social issue facing teenagers today? What are the solutions?" The deadline is Feb. 29. Details and instructions are available at the Welcome Center and in the Student Activities Center. OPRF has had a top four winner each of the last four years! This year, it could be you!

Boys’ Volleyball Open Nets
All boys interested in trying out for volleyball this spring season are encouraged to attend open nets on Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 6:15 a.m. - 7:30 a.m. in the 3rd floor south gyms. Open nets will start the week of Tuesday, January 29 and continue up until tryouts in March. Any questions? Come see Coach Shipley in the 3rd floor library.
Girls’ Water Polo
Attention all girls interested in playing water polo this spring! We will have a brief informational meeting directly after school on Thursday, January 24 in the 1 East Classroom to discuss season specifics including tryout dates, games, practice schedules, tryout policies and answer any questions you may have. Please come to hear more about the team.

Any girl who wants to be on the 2008 Huskies Softball Team must attend a brief but important meeting on Friday, January 25 at 7:15 a.m. in the 1 East Classroom.
